A murder, a floor plan and a handful of guests who tell you where they were. Put each of them on their square and find out who was left alone with the victim.
SUDOKU DETECTIVE combines the sudoku rule with the logic of a whodunit: one person per row and per column. Each suspect tells you where they were (“next to the fireplace”, “in the first column”, “in the same room as Diana”), the general clues narrow down the rest, and when only one free square is left, that is where the victim was. Whoever shares that room is the murderer.
No prior knowledge needed: the book opens with a case solved step by step, and from there the difficulty rises little by little. The first cases take a few minutes; the last ones, with a dozen characters, a liar or a hidden accomplice, will have you thinking like a real detective.
What’s inside
- 90 original cases, each on its own double-page spread: the suspects’ cards on the left and the full-color floor plan on the right.
- 26 illustrated settings: a house, a beach, a barn, an emergency room, a book club, a spa hotel, a museum at night, a Paris apartment building, a night train, a polar station, a Japanese ryokan, an excavation in Egypt, a mansion, an ocean liner… plus ten bonus cases with animals that take up room on the plan too.
- Five levels, from very easy to expert, on grids from 5×5 to 12×12. In the hard cases one of the suspects is lying; in the expert cases the murderer has an accomplice.
- Fully explained solutions: the solved grid and the reasoning, step by step, so you can see exactly where the murderer slipped past you.
- Illustrated glossary of objects and animals: what can be occupied, what blocks the way.
All you need is a pencil. The floor plan, the clues and the satisfaction of pointing out the culprit come with the book.
Perfect for anyone who enjoys sudoku, logic puzzles, detective novels or deduction games. A great gift, and fun to play as a family.
