A Murdoku maker
Inventing a murder mystery sudoku by hand is hard: the clues have to lead to a single solution, and none of them can be spare. The workshop works like a Murdoku maker: you provide the map, and the detective places the suspects and writes the clues.
The case you get plays like any other: a map divided into rooms, one suspect per row and per column, and a murderer who was alone with the victim.
How to create a case
Choose the size. The bigger the map, the more suspects and the harder the case.
Paint the rooms. Pick a floor and tap the squares where it goes: each floor is a room. There is a bit of everything, from the kitchen to the igloo.
Add the furniture. Chairs, beds, trees, a boat… Tap a piece once it is placed to turn it.
Press “Test my case”. In a few seconds the detective places the suspects and writes their cards. You are the first to solve it.
Publish it, if you like. We review it and it appears in “Player cases” for anyone to play.
It works best with rooms of different sizes and a few pieces of furniture in each: with everything empty or everything full, the clues all look alike.
Made in the workshop
These are player cases, created with the workshop, like the beach one above. They are free to play, like all the others.
To play at home or in class
As a family. Create a case and solve it together.
In class. Students draw a place they know and solve a classmate's. More ideas for class.
A mystery night. Draw the house where the dinner takes place and let the guests find out who did it: a detective game made to measure.
